What do stripped overalls and apples have in common?????? My grandfather!
Fall brings sights and smells of a fabulous childhood i feel lucky to have had. 'Grandpa Powell', dressed in stripped overalls daily and in the fall, pressed apples from the neighbor's orchard. He made life delicious. He was a strong quiet man that ran that monster machine with ease. Firm with instructions for us to respect the danger and willing to explain the process when i would hang out with him. He was a wizard of apple cider magic.
Watching in amazement as one piece of nature was transformed into a heavenly nector (that must always be consumed with donuts!!!! ) was one of my favorites things. Smells of my childhood are little gifts that remind me of the simpler world i grew up in and the man who always took the time to love on and 'hang out' with this little girl who had a busy mind.
